Privacy and your data

What the Downtown Campbellford map and scavenger hunt keep about you, for how long, and how to erase it. This describes what the software does today.

What we keep when you play

  • Each stamp: which stop, when, and whether your phone was at the stop (passed, too far, declined, or could not tell).
  • A random number in a cookie on your phone, so your stamps stay together. The cookie is called wpd_campbellford and lasts one year. It is used for nothing else.
  • A short resume code, so you can move your progress to another phone.
  • If you claim a reward: its code, and when it was claimed and collected.

What we do not keep

  • No name, email address, phone number, account or password for visitors.
  • No GPS coordinates and no location history. Only the result of the location check is saved, never where your phone was.
  • No IP addresses in the hunt's data.
  • No advertising, tracking or analytics scripts. These pages load no outside fonts, images, scripts or map services: the map is served from our own server.
  • Tapping Directions opens Google Maps in a new tab. That is your choice, and only then does Google learn the place you asked for.

How long we keep it

Stamps and reward claims are kept while you are active. A phone with no new stamp and no reward claim for 24 months is deleted automatically, with everything stored for it.

Like any website, our web server keeps ordinary access logs, which include IP addresses, to run and secure the service. The app itself does not store IP addresses.

Erase your data now

This works on the phone you are using now. If you also play on another phone, open this page there too.

Who is involved

  • Downtown Campbellford runs this hunt and its rewards.
  • Foxpress built the software and runs it, with its database, on its own server.
  • When staff add a business by address, the address they type is looked up with OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service. No visitor information is sent.
  • Staff invitations and password resets are sent through our own mail server.

Staff accounts

People who run the dashboard have accounts: their name, email address and a scrambled form of their password. They stay signed in for up to 12 hours. Changes they make are recorded with who made them and when.
